Lyrics and Songwriting – a Three PART Workshop Series (ages 13+)

•  Part 1 – Oct. 6, 2019, 2-4pm  •  Part 2 – Nov. 3, 2019, 4-6pm  •  Part 3 – Nov. 24, 2019, 2-4pm

This three part workshop will provide students with a foundation for great songwriting. The first part will focus on games, exercises, and habits to help discover and harness the creative, raw material of a song. The second part will focus on song analysis, lyrical and musical form, and arrangement.  The final session will highlight the importance of revision, including best practices in giving and receiving feedback.  Students will be expected to work on their songs between sessions and will be given worksheets at the end of each workshop to help them with their songs. Attendance of all 3 workshops in order is highly encouraged, but get in touch with us if availability is an issue.

This series is FREE for band coaching members, and $150 for non-members when they sign up for all three ($60 for 1 session).

Creative Process

“Acquainting oneself with the arts outside of a traditional classroom environment gives kids more autonomy in the creative process, which yields results that can be applied away from the studio.”

Next Level

“While Replay also functions as rehearsal space for adult musicians, Mare and John the lovely owners, are always on site so there is never a worry about safety or supervision. Coming to Replay Friday afternoons is the highlight of my son’s week. If you are looking for a safe happy place where your young musician can take his craft to the next level, you just found it!”

Remarkable Progress

“John combines his expertise in drumming and teaching with a great sense of humor, which results in high quality, fun lessons. The progress my daughter made was remarkable. John’s lessons are above and beyond teaching technique and providing a solid base to build upon: his experience as a performer and attention to individual needs allowed for lessons specifically geared to prepare for upcoming performances.”

Stephanie

Parent of John Rubin’s drum student
