Lyrics can be a daunting task for any songwriter – from the true beginner to even the most experienced songsmith. And while there may be a glorified myth about the great troubadour plucking perfect phrases from the ether, waiting around to be struck by magic, there are, in fact, other ways to make magic happen. This workshop will explore some of the many different creative processes that anybody can use to generate ideas for good, meaningful lyrics. Along with playing some word and melody games and exercises, we will also share and discuss some of our favorite lyrics from our favorite songs.
